Despite my European heritage, I grew up American, my tastes are American…I don’t like warm beer. This fact is relevant because it prompted my quest to find a way to keep my beer cold in warm Hawaii. I started out with seven ice cubes in each glass, a half hour later I poured the contents into a measuring glass, you can see the amount of ice that was left over and the volume of water that melted from the ice.

There isn’t a lot to say about these, they are just like you would find at the bar. They are easy to find and easy to replace. Since they are made of glass you might find yourself replacing them if you have a lot of little kids running around or host wild parties. These glasses are the most transparent, so they are the best for evaluating the appearance of a beer. Your conventional pint glass also chills nicely in the freezer.

Tervis wouldn’t have been around for 70 years if they weren’t doing something right. That being said, Tervis has only been BPA free since 2011, so if you have some old tumblers you might want to upgrade. Tervis has a ton of different customization options, I prefer clear, but they have every customization option you can imagine, from the NFL to Star Wars. Despite their claim to be condensation free, you can see from the test this isn’t exactly the case. However, cleaning is as easy as throwing them into the dishwasher and no need to worry if these take a fall, they call them a tumbler for a reason. If you have little ones, you can get lids for these that help minimize spills and help keep that twisty straw in just the right place.

Since they are made of metal they are BPA free. They come in a variety of fun colors, so you can use them for parties and don’t have to worry about labeling solo cups. After the party though you will be washing these by hand and any other customization you want to do will have been done at an engraving shop. Even though these had some durability, if they get dropped, particularly on a corner, you should expect them to chip and or dent. These had the best insulation of the three glasses and get nice and frosty in the freezer as well. These aren’t a good choice for evaluating the aesthetic properties of a beer, as you can’t see through them.
