I live in Hawaii, I have a backyard, I am pretty sure that it is a law that if you want to entertain outside (and we do everything outside here) you need to own tiki torches.
That is a pretty sizable flame!
Tiki torches are great for the following reasons:
- They are relatively inexpensive
- They offer a lot of atmosphere
- They can be filled with citronella for keeping the bugs away
But in my experience, those cheap tiki torches don’t last very long before they start to discolor, fade, crack and decompose. This means you can end up replacing them on a semi-regular basis and those costs add up. We had a party coming up and I really wanted to set the yard up nice, but I didn’t want to break the bank and I wanted something I thought would last. Actually, I wanted to get natural gas torches like the nice hotels in Waikiki, but it wasn’t in the budget. After extensive research on Amazon, I found the Island King torch by Tiki which fit the bill perfectly. These added a nice effect to the yard when I did a showing of Jurassic World and Mad Max.
Pros:
This one has yet to be used
Easy to fill, no need to unscrew a cap
A flame that will give other torches a complex
A nice finish
Magnetic lid that makes it easier to snuff out the flame
Better materials than the cheap one
Cons:
More expensive than the cheap ones
They will rust
Consumes fuel at faster rate than smaller torches
Tip: I was able to save a few bucks by buying my first set from Amazon Warehouse Deals, look there first!
For just a few bucks this is a must have
Tip 2: Buy a Tiki fuel funnel, it fits perfectly on any bottle and is made to fit into the port on the Tiki brand torches. This minimizes spills on the torch and on you!
